Create a Friends and Family Team

Your Friends and Family Teams are at the heart of the Alzheimer’s Walk. These individuals often Step Forward and Give Hope as a way to fight back when a friend or family member has been affected by the disease.

But these teams often stretch beyond immediate friends and family to include neighbors, community organizations, religious groups, civic groups and schools. Regardless of who joins, forming a Friends and Family team is an effective way to bring even more awareness and funds to this critical cause. At the same time, team members can get involved in the community and move toward their personal health and wellness goals.

To create a Family and Friends Team and become the Team's captain, start your team here, and choose "Friends and Family Team" as your Team Division. All team captains will receive additional support from the Alzheimer’s & Dementia Alliance of Wisconsin to assist with recruitment and fundraising efforts.

You need at least one designated person — or more, depending on the size of your company — to start a team by signing up as a Team Captain. The Team Captain(s) should recruit additional walkers, set up the team fundraising Web page, and keep everyone excited and motivated.

People who walk on a team raise more money than individual participants, so consider splitting your team by division or department. A little friendly fundraising competition is sure to drive your dollars sky high!

Matching Gifts

Does your company offer a charitable matching gift program? If so, make sure each Walk team member fills out the proper paperwork to get their contributions appropriately matched. Find out if your employer is already in our matching gifts system. Watch your fundraising dollars double (or sometimes triple) overnight!
