We are #phyllieshellraisers #reddellstrong -- together as a family we are walking to promote and raise awareness for the heartbreaking disease of Dementia and Alzheimer's.
Dementia has had a profound impact on our family since 2013 when our Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, and Friend Phyllis Reddell's difficulty with her cognitive functionality became exceptionally apparent , forcing us to seek outside accommodations and care to ensure her safety and overall well-being.
We were fortunate to keep her in her own home for a year and a half before moving her to an assisted living facility.
In April of 2018, she was moved to a nursing home, due to her worsening condition, to better suit her needs. Up until that point we had been exceptionally fortunate with her ability to communicate sufficiently and recognize her Sister, Children, and Grandchildren.
Dementia and Alzheimer's is a difficult, emotional, heartwrenching disease that can only be fully understood when it hits you or a a family member. On Saturday, September 22nd, we'll band together to raise funds and awareness to fight - not only for those fighting the battle today, but also for those who have fought and lost the battle before us.
