Welcome to My Personal Page
Almost 6 years ago, my mom lost her battle to Alzheimer’s. But WE lost our mom long before that.
It started small, forgetting where she put things, people's names and faces, and quickly turned into forgetting to eat, to take her medicine, and calling us several times a day with no memory of the previous times.
When we were told there was no cure and it would only progress, we were angry, sad, and we started grieving the loss of the strong, beautiful woman we knew. We struggled because it is hard to know how to interact in a relationship that’s no longer familiar.
But we quickly learned being angry would do no good. We learned to care for our mom the way she needed us to. We became patient, educated, and proactive. We decided to bring a voice to this terrible disease. We learned what we CAN do to slow down the progression of this disease and what we can do NOW to help people in the future.
So we walk in hopes that someday no one has to. That we can do something to bring awareness and understanding to Alzheimer’s. And we know our mom is so proud.
