Hundreds came out to support individuals living with Alzheimer's or other dementia by joining us for the Green County Alzheimer's Walk at Behring Senior Center in Monroe. Despite the rainy weather, everyone had a wonderful time and it was a great way to raise awareness for the disease. Thanks to all who walked and their efforts to raise funds for ADAW. Your generocity is appreciated.

"The Research shows that people who are regularly engaged
in social interaction maintain their brain vitality better than those who are
not. In the study of 800 men and women aged 75 and older, those who were more
physically active, more mentally active or more socially engaged had a lower
risk for developing dementia. The ones who combined these activities did even
better. People in different phases of Alzheimer's will have different
abilities, so what that social engagement looks like will be different, but may
include travel, joining groups to play cards or dance and being involved in
community activities or causes." stated Dr. Richardson.
The Monroe Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Administrator James Wilson joins us as Corporate Chair. Monroe Manor helps both short-term and long-term residents with dementia. James is pleased to be this year's chair and values working with ADAW because all dollars raised stay local to serve people in need. He has been walking to raise awareness for the past four years and each year strives to have Monroe Manor be the largest team.
